History from different perspectives

Here we have the opportunity to learn about the history of World War II from three different perspectives. At the Schidler's Factory, you will learn about everyday life in Krakow during the war and learn about the story of a man who saved many lives - German entrepreneur Oscar Schindler. In the Eagle Pharmacy you will discover what has happened in the Krakow Ghetto and you will meet the figure of Tadeusz Pankiewicz - a Polish pharmacist who, at his own request, was locked up in the ghetto to help the Jewish community. In the Old Synagogue, you will see what Jewish customs and rituals looked like. Get to know the culture and religion that once filled the streets of Kazimierz, and today it is not actively practiced at all anymore.

3 museums that complement each other

  • Schidler's Factory - The exhibition presents photographs, eyewitness accounts, documentary films and multimedia shows. Combined they create a chronological vision of Krakow's history during WW II. You can see how war has destroyed the lives of individuals and masses. You can also see how ordinary items, such as photos, newspapers and personal items, helped to capture everyday life in a city occupied by the Nazis.
  • Eagle Pharmacy - a witness to the tragedy of the Kraków Ghetto. Tadeusz Pankiewicz worked in the pharmacy, illegally helping the Jewish community. The museum tells the story of a Pole who was the only non-Jewish inhabitant of the Ghetto.
  • The Old Synagogue - is an institute immortalizing Jewish traditions and culture in Krakow. The exhibitions allow you to get to know the daily life of the followers of Judaism, look closely at their culture.

Interesting Facts

It is unbelievable how much the Jewish community was oppressed during the war. These painful memories fill the streets of Kazimierz.

However, while visiting the Old Synagogue, the Schindler's Museum and the Eagle Pharmacy, in addition to the tragedy of the Holocaust, you will discover hope, kindness and mutual help. Pankiewicz risked his life to illegally help in his pharmacy, Schindler - a German businessman, saved over a thousand Jews, even though he did not have to! The Old Synagogue completely destroyed during the war was quickly rebuilt and restored, and now serves as a symbol of the past and educational institution.

Residents of Krakow will never forget about the drama of the Holocaust.
