About Wawel Cathedral

The most important church in Krakow

St. Mary's Church may be the most characteristic, and the church of St. Wojciech is the oldest, but nothing beats the rank of the Wawel Cathedral. It was here that the kings were crowned and this is where they rest in peace. It is here that Zygmunt's Bell rings when something really important happens in the country. In addition to these obviousities, the cathedral is simply beautiful and conceals a large part of Polish history.

It was here that Karol Wojtyła preached. General Sikorski, Piłsudski, and Kosciuszko are buried here as well as romantic country prophets - Mickiewicz, Słowacki and Norwid. Not to mention 17 Polish kings. And one more thing: the bone of the Wawel Dragon hangs in front of the entrance - nice company, huh?

What will you see?

What does the ticket contain besides the entrance to the Wawel Cathedral itself (and it contains more than you might think :)

  • admission to the Sigismund's Tower - a beautiful view of Wisła is waiting there,
  • the opportunity to see royal graves of Polish national heroes,
  • admission to the Cathedral Museum,
  • audioguide - sightseeing will be way more pleasant and effective with it.
