A labyrinth of nearly 2,400 chambers is connected with sidewalks with a total length of 245 km. It is an invaluable monument of material culture, placed in 1978 on the UNESCO Heritage List.

Salt Mine Regulations

  • Please mind that the tour begins with climbing down 380 steps and the regular tour does not include the lift that takes you down
  • Please, wear comfortable shoes - the tour requires a lot of walking
  • The photography fee is 10 PLN that you can pay on the spot
  • You will get a headset to hear the guide clearly throughout the entire tour
  • In case of any issues, you can always ask our Tour Leader for help or call our Support Center (the number will be on the sticker you get before the tour)
  • Physically challenged tourists may want to consider taking the shorter route which can be organized after picking the Salt Mine with private transport option of the tour
  • The temperature in Salt Mine is around 14 degrees so please take a jacket with you

Terms & Conditions

  • If you cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the activity you can get a full refund.
  • If you cancel within 24 hours before the activity or you do not show up - refund is not due.
  • Groups of 15 people and more are obliged to cancel the booking at least two days prior the tour to get a full refund.
  • In order to receive a discount student must have a valid student ID during the tour. 
  • Please arrive at the designated pick- up point at least 5 minutes before departure time. Minor delays (circa 20 minutes) are possible due to traffic conditions.
  • You have to present a voucher to the Tour Leader before the beginning of the trip.

How long is the tour?

The sightseeing itself takes around 2 hours. 

I am physically challenged - can I take part in the tour?

The regular Salt Mine tour requires lots of walking and climbing stairs. If you have trouble walking you should consider taking the special route for physically challenged tourists. It is easier and shorter and we can organize it for you.
You just need to choose the Wieliczka Salt Mine tour with private transport and inform our booking department that you want to attend the shorter Route. If you are a person using a wheelchair it is the only possible way of visiting the Salt Mine. 

Can I use a lift to get down the first 380 steps?


The regular Salt Mine tour does not include the lift to get down. After the tour, the group is taken by lift to the surface.
